Fitness Boxing
Fist of the North Star (Review)
Over the weekend Nintendo released its third game of the Fitness Boxing franchise. Fist of the North Star is the Fitness Boxing we’ve been waiting for. This new installment incorporates characters from the 1986 Mark III video game Fist of the North Star.
Nintendo attempted a sequel to Fitness Boxing which seemed more like an overpriced DLC. Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm and Exercise included two brand new instructors and a new playlist of music. Being a fan of Fitness Boxing since the first game was released in 2018, I was looking for a new version to give me more ways to track my progress.
With all of the old trackers from the original game, Fist of the North Star adds new achievements as well as a way to track your accuracy as a Southpaw and Orthodox fighting style and a new daily challenge each day. Unfortunately you are unable to sync your progress from the older games but with all the time spent acquiring skills from the first Fitness Boxing I found it easy to quickly defeat the first boss on a “hard” difficulty level.
Like both Fitness Boxing 1 and 2, First of the North Star also includes a daily workout, however, I found it much more fun getting my workout on in “Battle Mode”. This new mode allows the player to fight their way through a multitude of enemies using the Fitness Boxing mechanics and combos until you reach the final Boss Battle. Every time I would play in battle mode I’d forget it was even a workout. All I needed was a headset to make me feel like I was in a complete VR game.
As you fight your way through Battle Mode and deafest bosses, those bosses then become unlockable instructors that you can purchase in the shop. Fist of the North Star includes 4 unlockable instructors based on characters from the game and 1 mystery instructor that will be unlocked once you defeat all the bosses in battle mode. Each instructor has their own set of clothing that can be purchased with fitness points that you earn by completing daily workouts and missions.
My hopes is that Imagineer will
